Guide to Pets - Everything you need to know [Updated June 9th]

  • This guide has been created with information and images from the CBT2 client. Please note that UI and localisation is subject to change, red text signifies that the content naming has not been confirmed.

    Basic Introduction:

Pets are floating companions which follow around while you journey about the world of Swords of Legends Online.

    Things to note:

    • The look of your pet doesn’t change it’s function.
    • You don’t unlock pets until you progress further in the story, so you won’t start with one right away.
    • Pets do not fight and are mainly visual in nature.
    • The pet interface can be accessed by pressing “P”.

    Feeding and Soul Qi:

Once you unlock the pet function, you can open the pet interface (press “P”) and you will see four tabs, the first being Feed. Feeding a pet allows you to generate more Soul Qi which is used in the Crafting interface (detailed in the crafting section below). The highest amount of Soul Qi you can have at any given time is 8000. You can generate more Soul Qi by feeding gear, food, or pretty much anything to your pet by right-clicking the items in the UI.

This UI also allows you to see the current level of your pet, in the screenshot below you will see that the pet level is 60 and it has 88 understanding. Understanding will also be detailed in the Crafting area of this guide.

    Transformations:

Transformations are basically the visual look for your pet. You can change your pet to look like a plethora of things, such as a kite or a flying cat.

There are several types of Transformations which are separated into categories:

    • Heart of Primal Force
    • Small Magic Item
    • Dragon
    • Birthday Doll
    • Small Wooden Tool
    • Origami

When you first unlock the pet interface, you will have access to 10 primal force transformations which you can equip to give your pet a different look in the open-world.

Transformations for pets are mainly unlocked through gameplay, though some may be able to be purchased or part of the battle pass content at a later date.

    Skills:

Skills are passive abilities which are applied at all times to your character. They are unlocked by owning a specific amount of pets of a certain type. Skills can also be levelled up once you meet the level up requirements, levelling up consumes a small amount of Soul Qi.

Passive Skill: Increased speed for Favourite Points. Increase the maximum number of Favourite Points that can be won by defeating a boss or killing other characters, with the upper limit increasing by 4% per stack.

    Crafting:

To use the crafting interface you must have Soul Qi (detailed above) and Mysterious Parchments. You are able to craft gear pieces for your character based on your pet level, so for example if your pet is level 60 you will only be able to craft level 60 items.

    Mysterious Parchments:

Mysterious Parchments can be obtained by participating in daily and weekly events, completing dungeons and other various miscellaneous activities. The main acquisition method for Mysterious Parchments is through the Cultivation interface (little cloud next to the minimap).

The Mysterious Parchments you obtain will always be the same level as your Pet. For example, if your pet level is 60, all Mysterious Parchments you will obtain are level 60. The (Current) in the name of the Mysterious Parchments in various UI is referring to the current level of your pet.

    “Current”

    Level 60 Pet

    RJPHeuI.png

    AaYZBkF.png

    Understanding:

Understanding is the method required to level up your pet. To fill up your understanding bar, you must craft items by using Mysterious Parchments, to max out the bar for level 60 you need to use 1000 Mysterious Parchments.

    Y0pc0Ex.png

It is worth noting that if the current maximum game content is level 70, you will not be able to level your pet past this point until new content has been added to the game.

Once you level up your pet, a new tab will appear within the crafting interface allowing you to then craft gear and other items for that specific level.

These transformations appear in the UI, but are unobtainable at the moment, they will be coming in future content.

  • Thank you very much for this guide.

I dont know if it's because it's a new game or what, but I find some part of the game kinda "complex" or difficult to learn. So again, thanks for this, I really appreciate it.

No problem :) Is there any other systems you are finding difficult to understand? Trying to decide what I should work on next! :D

Would you do a Captains Assistance guide? I would be forever thankful for it :D

Changed the title of the thread from “Guide to Pets - Everything you need to know” to “Guide to Pets - Everything you need to know [Updated June 7th]”.
  • Nice guide. I only noticed one piece of information missing that I found out personally in CBT 2. There was actually one origami pet you could unlock in Closed Beta 1 and 2 that wasn't in the list of available origami pets. You could buy both of the parts for it in the leisure event shop thingy at cloudrise for treesap. The pet was hidden in regards that it doesn't appear on the pet menu choices until you've outright bought it at the shop.

This allowed you to unlock the suncatcher pet skill thingy even though most people thought it was impossible.

  • Very helpful guide indeed. I'll be using this as a reference for launch day.

Someone else's opinions or how many likes I can receive will never go into consideration before I press submit to any of my posts.

    Ignorance remains forever ignored.

    Hey

I found this one out today and managed to get someone to get some screenshots for me. I'll be updating the thread tomorrow with this information :)

    Thank you!

  • We need to use 1000 Mysterious Parchments to level up a pet past level 60.

The weekly limit of Mysterious Parchments we can obtain is 10 (plus 2-4 additionally).

Does it mean that it will take about 18 months to level up a pet past level 60? :/

The 10 limit is more so of buys, not the amount of parchment received every time you buy. Parchment usually comes in stacks of 12 when bought. So you don't buy 10 a week, you buy 120 I believe.

I don't remember if all parchment comes in stacks of 12. Like the ones you get from weekly hardmode dungeons. So I don't know what the technical max of earnable parchment is each week. But it's probably something like 200 parchment per week and 5-8 weeks before most players start reaching pet lvl 70 past launch. That should mean raids will be added post launch before anyone ever gets lvl 70 gear from their pet.

You're definitely not limited to 10 per week, like BK201soren, I'm not sure on the actual maximum amount, but I know of some people in the Beta who maxed out their bar at level 60, so it's definitely possible to do in a short space of time, rather than the feared 18 months.

  • absolutly i got the 60 bar maxed out during beta thats quite possible in 2 weeks.

  • How in the universe did you get 1000 parchments during the beta?

  • doing all dailys and weeklys since alpha 1. in the end with basically 3,5 weeks meaning 4x weeklys and a lot of dailys i ended up 1367 of the pages

  • It's been nearly 3 weeks since launch. Cleary, the drop rates have been nerfed since beta through the method of a weekly cap. Has anyone got 1000 parchment and seen if lvl 75 gear is purchaseable yet? I'd like to think I've been earning near the cap each week. I may have only skipped out on 3 hidden boss drops over the whole 3 weeks so far. But I don't want to rule out missing some parchments. I have earned 799, and I think the max earnable so far is 808 if I am assuming everything correctly.

In the patch-notes it says that you will be able to get 75 gear through parchments from the 5th August maintenance.

Also the max earnable is higher than that when you take into account the extra parchments you get through Secret Interpretations Form and Thought.
