You should really consider having a house in this game

This video comes to mind when I think of housing building. Like these builds look like they're way bigger than the land provided.

Short answer yes you can edit the entire island. It is not a level/upgrading issue. The game itself doesn't allow you to put things down outside that square, but it doesn't prohibit moving things to the outside. So the trick is you put things down inside the square and move things out under keyboard editing mode. Similarly, you may build a whole piece inside the square with every item linked to a single item, and move that entire piece to outside. It's less freely when building outside but it's possible. We all hope the dev will unlock the entire island for editing in the future.

Sorry this is my piecework from Chinese server. I think I forgot to mention this when I post this thread because there were no alpha or beta at that time. It is definitely impossible to get something like this during beta. Leveling your island usually will take a month or two. And this design plus building took me 3 months in total. Sorry for the confusion.
